Basics: Kristi House, Miami, Florida. The Kristi House is a community organization that provides shelter and support for child victims of sexual abuse and their families, regardless of income. There are 12 therapists on staff and an outreach team/program called Project GOLD (Girls Owning their own Lives and Dreams), which does outreach and advocacy against the sexual exploitation of minors. The organization mostly serves girls. They are working to create a shift from looking at juveniles as prostitutes to victims needing treatment, a shift from criminialization to diversion. Staff says that one kid their served was direct filed as an adult for prostitution, a sixteen year old. A majority of the girls in the problem were sexually abused at home.
