St. Louis Detention, St. Louis, Missouri

When a juvenile is brought into detention, they are typically evaluated by a team of people– sheriff or city police, court officials, representatives from the State’s attorney office, child protective services, psychologists, parents, etc. The binary decision is, “Is the child going home to a safe and secure environment?” or is the juvenile remaining in the detention center? Here at St. Louis detention, a girl has been told she has “turned the corner” and will be staying at the center at least tonight and perhaps longer. She is not happy.
