“I’ve been arrested too many times to remember. I’m from Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas. My grandma and father visit me. I’m here on charges of burglary and theft. Also caught voluntary sexual relations. She was 15, I was 16. You only have this in Wichita [actually, all over Kansas—The Romeo and Juliet Law]…I have an assault with a deadly weapon—handgun, against two people—then I have an assault, and another assault. I got my diploma. Today was my last day in school. I’m supposed to go to another lockdown RTF [Residential Treatment Facility]. May go to a Salvation Army another 90 days but I’m only going to be in JJA for another 3 months.
I had a warrant but I didn’t get served my court papers because my uncle caught my house on fire
My mother, sister, brother and step dad visit all the time—2 or 3 times a week. Mom is a nurse. My stepdad works as a tree trimmer. Me and my little brother have the same daddy. Dad is in Kentucky federal prison for selling crack and other things. He writes and I talk to him sometime. He’s a member of the Englewood families—It’s a Blood gang. I have a younger brother ,12, and an older brother who is 19 years-old. He is a member of the Lincoln Park Bloods. I want to be calm, cool, collected—everything cool. I will go to WATC and will do construction, everything. I did good over there (previous visit) I was there for four months….Now here for three months. I have to do six months now at JJA. I might move to Texas. My auntie lives there. I had a warrant but I didn’t get served my court papers because my uncle caught my house on fire so they couldn’t serve me papers—so I was arrested in Texas. I was on my way to Memphis for a family reunion—we got stopped and I was arrested because there was a warrant out for my arrest.”
